Community Exchanges
Bi-annual visits by community members in both towns have occurred in alternate years since 1996, when the initial group of (10) people visited Sugito from Busselton. These home stays feature a broad range of activities - some are arranged by SOBSCA (in Busselton) or the International Association (in Sugito) and the weekends are free to enjoy with host families. These exchanges have allowed a number of people to appreciate the two very different cultures and after 10 years a number of firm friendships have been formed, with people keeping in regular touch via email and private visits.
October 2007
A group of 17 people from Sugito visited Busselton from 23rd - 30th October. Although they only had a week, our visitors enjoyed a wide range of sights and experiences in Busselton and surrounding areas. This was also the return visit celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Sister City agreement, and was celebrated with a tree planting at the Friendship Garden followed by a formal reception in Saint Mary's Hall. An art exhibition also accompanied the group.
